The BEST Internship program is a collaboation between Contra Costa College and I-Cultiver Inc. Created by Dr. Rajnish Khanna and Dr. Katie Krowlikowski, this program is designed to give bio-technology students paid opportunitiesto increase their eduction by working on real life experiments and product trials. The BEST Program enrollsstudentsthree times a year; in Spring, Summer and Fall for respective semesters.

POTENTIAL BIO-TECHNOLOGY STUDENT PROJECTS
Biotechnology Internships may involve one or more of the following:
- Fractionate soil, rhizosphere and rootsamplesfor microbiome analysis
- Microbial DNA extraction and sample preparation for 16S rRNA gene sequencing
- Bioinformatics support
- Plant-seedling assays, including plating on nutrient media, growth, imaging, Image J analysis and statistical evaluation
- Metabolomics, including assay kit- and chromatography -based element quantification
- Scale growth of microbialcommunitiesfor applications in agriculture
- Remote Sensing technologies(training will be included)
Science Communication Internships may involve one or more of the following:
- Public communication and content development
- Public education and promotion of scientific awareness through social media and online articles
