FIELD AND BOX TRIALS

Field and Box Trials Conducted at Leading Universities

i-Cultiver provides customized R&D services to the agriculture industry, with the ability to verify products in greenhouse and field settings. Our trials and research is conducted at leading universities, peer-reviewed and frequently published in academic and public forums. We specialize in three different types of biological research, click below to learn about our research and product development for Agriculture, Forests or Urban Studies.

FRUIT TREES

Our Global Green Monitoring software utilizes satellite images and prepares a “greenness map” from those images. We can track water flow, pinpoint diseased areas and continually monitor large plots of land during every stage in the annual growing process. Our software can detect a single barren stick within a field of almond trees. We use this ability to help our customers find problem areas in large scale grows quickly, monitor nutrition uptake and ensure trements are effective when used. This software is available everywhere in the world.

i-Cultiver Field Trial Services

Establish your product efficacy on our fields to reach your maximum crop yields. Field trials are performed in collaboration with major universities at multiple locations in the Bay Area. Independent field trials are used to translate product performance to large acre applications and provide competitive edge in market expansion. Data can be used for regulatory purposes as well. Field trials can be customized for specific applications. All studies are undertaken to optimize product success and sustainability in agricultural applications.

I-Cultiver Box Trial Services

Box trials are performed in collaboration with college and major universities at multiple locations in the Bay Area. Independent box trials are used to translate product performance to small controlled applications and provide competitive edge in market expansion. Data can be used for regulatory purposes as well. Box trials can be customized for any specific applications. All studies are undertaken to optimize product success and sustainability in agricultural applications. Clients can utilize between 3-8 boxes for each study. We offer studies from February-October, utilizing our prime weather conditions in the Bay Area to grow Spring, Summer and Fall produce for study. Most studies run between 12-24 weeks for full harvest and data collection.

CONTROLLED GROWTH ENVIRONMENTS

We have conducted and published a multitude of studies focused on studying products applied in controlled greenhouse environments. The computer-controlled precision growth chambers and greenhouses at our facilities feature automated light, temperature and humidity controls. The facility places an emphasis on advanced bio-containment and precision delivery of water and nutrients, while maintaining the highest standards of limited pesticide inputs, all contributing to our ability to continually publish the studies we preform in this location.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT IN OUTDOOR SETTINGS

Research conducted at leading Colleges and Universities are closely monitored by scientists and intern scientists, ensuring each study is properly conducted.
These studies are preformed and maintained by our Chief Scientist, Dr. Rajnish Khanna, Greenhouse Staff and our intern I-Cultiver Scientists. We take pride in the educational program surrounding these studies that allows young scientists to work alongside academic professionals to complete these incredible studies and publish the findings.

BOX LOCATION INFORMATION

Our specialized research boxes are located outdoors in the California Bay Area, this enviornment is closely monitored and seperated boxes allow for the utmost care when conducting studies. Multiple separated boxes in the same enviornment allow for differences in lighting, watering schedules, nutrient applications and pesticide use depending on the needs for each individual study. Each study reserves its own boxes using Control, Study and Drought boxes. Specialized training is provided for the individual scientist and assistants conducting the study.

Independent customizable studies based on specific PRODUCT needs. We utilize both greenhouse and outdoor field trials to conduct research. Our research is primarily conducted in the California Bay Area at two separate locations, but we collaborate with a multitude of professionals in this field for each study. Our collaborations include faculty, academics and researchers from Carnegie, Stanford, UC Berkeley, UC Santa Cruz, Arizona State University, Contra Costa College and USDA. In collaboration with these individuals, our scientists and intern scientists are able to fully customize each individual study and conduct it in a way that we can create published works from these trials.

MICROBIOME PROFILING SERVICES

Microbial (bacterial) communities established inside, around and on plants greatly influence crop growth and yield outcome. The goal of this study is to determine if PRODUCT application alters the microbiome in soil, in rhizosphere (surface of roots), and endosphere (inside the roots). The community structure of microbiome can reveal how the PRODUCT works.

SOIL AND CROP HEALTH ANALYSIS

DROUGHT STRESS

Availability of water for agriculture is becoming limited. Future of food production will need to rely on water use efficiency and increased tolerance to drought stress. The drought stress assay is custom designed based upon the timing of the treatment and the drought stress. The assay is performed under controlled greenhouse conditions using precise watering through drip irrigation. The drought stress plants receive 1/4th of the regular water, and will be compared in performance between untreated and PRODUCT treated plants. Other assays, such as microbiome profiling or gene expression can be combined with this assay to get a deeper understanding of how PRODUCT may provide drought stress tolerance.
